I remember witnessing the going-to-bed ritual at my godson Jaxon's home about
the time he was learning to string words into sentences. His parents would
recount to him what he experienced that day. It was a "we went here and we saw
this person and ate this and what you say to the woman in the library and when
you built that fort what did you do then" kind of conversation. He loved to
hear about his day. He loved to recall the people and the events. And most of
all, he loved to hear it through his parents' words because during the
re-telling of his day, Jaxon's experience was being validated by his parents
and brought alive again to reflect upon and savor.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had someone who would prompt us to tell, reflect
upon and savor our own days' experiences? If you are a participant in The
Legacies Project, you are lucky enough to have someone who is doing just this.
The Legacies Project brings young adults and seniors together, allowing the
stories of days-gone-by to be heard, appreciated, and brought alive again
through the looking glass of a very different generation.

Each of us has our own story. Each of us tries our best to live a life of value
and meaning and to learn from and share out successes and out missteps. This
project allows the stories, values and lessons of each life to be recorded for
others to hear and glean from them what they can. The yearning of each of us is
to know we are heard, that our lives matter, and that we make a difference. I
am so very proud to support the Legacies Project because its mission is to
ensure this happens.

Please join me in learning from the wisdom within these pages as presented by
the pairing of youth and experience that is The Legacies Project.
