Dedicated to Irene de Watteville
This dedication, a collection of heart-felt admiration from many people who love and appreciate Irene, was written in an inspired moment together.

Ordinary she is NOT! An iconoclastic friend, Irene de Watteville is tough to describe in mere words. She is devoted to Solana Beach as an artistic center full of carefully selected public art, and was a force behind getting Legacies funded and produced.
Raymond Ellstad
Born a baroness baby boomer in Alsace Lorraine in northeastern France, she was raised in Paris. At age nine arriving by ship, Irene with her sister, their governess and their mother spent two years in America on the East Coast. After receiving her baccalaureate in Paris she chose to finish her advanced degrees in Art at the Boston Museum of Fine Art. In Boston she married a French-educated American oceanographer who brought her to Solana Beach. Both of their intelligent, beautiful daughters, Celeste and Chloe, were born and raised in Solana Beach.
Irene is like her work, Majolica Tile Painting - unforgettable, joyful, luscious, quirky, funny, very human, focused, unselfish. She loves her friends enormously. Radiates charisma. She is a terrific friend who makes you feel like you're the special one. She is compassionate, and understanding of what is important in life. She puts you in a good mood, is a positive, spontaneous spirit and doesn't give with any expectation of return. She is dedicated, extremely bright, theatrical, passionate and enthusiastically loves life.
Irene also loves to be silly, enjoying the comments that invariably come when she is wearing her outrageous stockings or her ubiquitous aprons. She has a delightful sense of humor. You might just see her at the post office with a paintbrush behind her ear! She is an ageless kid who loves to play.
The multitude of projects in which Irene is involved is vast, as many people locally, nationally and internationally can attest to, while in her spare time she takes Italian. She is very focused on the goals in her life. An adventurous spirit, who is present in whatever she is doing, or whoever she is with. Once you have met Irene de Watteville you will not forget her.
