My father, Captain John P. Wier, symbolizes someone unique for each of us and yet also someone totally universal: Mentor, father, husband, friend (and exceptional golfer). He was the ultimate gentleman, someone who personified respect and exuded charm in everything he said or did. His nonchalant wit could crack broad smiles on the stubbornest of faces.
He taught us, his children, eternal love, deep kindness, and unconditional acceptance. Open to the world, he told us to jump in, then supported us through thick and thin.
A true star, he would have been perfect for Hollywood, but we are thankful his life's path led him to shine with us here. For it is here with us that his star shall remain.
